Come on in ... we need your help to build a better Vietnamese Community right here in Arizona!
Our community is consisted of many diverse groups with different backgrounds and professional skills and experiences. We are open to new ideas and comers...
Let us share some thoughts...This website has been an enormous effort of many volunteers (we hope you will soon be one) who have committed their long hours and professional skills in hopes to create a better Vietnamese Community tomorrow. Did they have fun doing this? You bet. Like almost everyone who first starts his or her volunteer journey, they had their own self doubts and hesitations. “I can not do it by myself and I do not how to form a group to do it”, “I do not know where to start”, “I am afraid that people might not take my thoughts seriously”, “I am a student and have to worry about school work. When I graduate, I will get involved with community activities”, and many more thoughts like these. But once they started, they would not stop. Some of them began the volunteer work as another fun activity and eventually made it part of their life journey. And they are having fun too. If you ask anyone who has ever done volunteer work, including those in our beloved Vietnamese community, you will definitely see the enjoyment and smiles on his/her face when the person describes how being involved help with the spiritual growth. Who says that you can’t have fun while helping others?
Let us describe to you a couple reasons why you need to volunteer.
- Add new meaning to your life
- Meet new people and have fun
- Connect with your community
- Contribute to a cause that you care about
- Develop new and enhance current skills in a productive way
- Inspire others
- Show your compassion
- Build your confidence
- Add another life accomplishment activity on your life resume
We can go on and on about all the good things that volunteer may benefit your life. You may discover more benefits that are not listed on the above. Please come, contribute and join our community!
Here are a few exciting activities the community planning for the years to come.
- Organize VPAC (Vietnamese Political Action Committee). Our goals for the committee is to voice our concerns and opinions to influence the policy makers on decision making that could impact the Vietnamese residents.
- Organize a Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce. Our Vietnamese population in Arizona has been increasing in the last couple years. Coupled with this increase is a growth in number of Vietnamese-owned businesses, given it is a restaurant or a doctor office. The goals are to keep our Vietnamese businesses informed of any achnages in the law that might affect business growth and survival and to help share information and experiences with new businesses in our community.
- Organize a committee whose job is to keep our community updated with new development in the law that benefit or adversely affect the minority groups, Vietnamese in particular. This committe is also reponsible for creating a directory pamphlet of government services (both federal and local) in Vietnamese. This pamphlet also provides instruction to apply for such services.
- Organize a committee to create a job bank. This job bank will help newcomers (to Arizona) find new jobs. This also provides a link between Vietnamese businesses and all Vietnamese in the community who need employment.
We have many more projects that we can list here... And we are sure that you do too. So why not join us now to make those happen?
